Route 40/Wiley Road lane closures next week as intersection improvement project begins in Salem County
Closures necessary for median work
(Trenton) – New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced the start of an intersection improvement project on Route 40/Wiley Road and Route 48 between Courses Landing Road and Route 48 in Carneys Point, Salem County.
Beginning at 9 a.m., Monday, April 19, until 3:00 p.m., and continuing Monday through Friday for the next several weeks, the developer’s contractor, Allen Meyers, is scheduled to close the left turn lane on Route 40/Wiley Road eastbound onto Courses Landing Road for vegetation removal and median excavation. All travel lanes will be maintained at all times. Additional lane closures and detours will be required as the project advances.
NJDOT will provide advance notice before any additional closures take place. The $1 million developer project is constructing a new signalized intersection at Route 40/Wiley Road/Courses Landing Road intersection. The project also includes storm sewer installation, as well as curb and sidewalk work. The project will also construct acceleration and deceleration lanes between North Stumpy Road/South Stumpy Road and Forest Lane in both directions on Route 48. The project is anticipated to be complete in late fall 2021.
