On Monday, January 4th, 2021 Salem County Department of Health and Human Services received its first shipment of Modera COVID-19 vaccine for dispensing as part of Phase 1A of New Jersey’s statewide COVID-19 vaccination program. This phase consists of health care workers, residents of long-term-care facilities, and employees in long-term-care facilities.

COVID-19 vaccinations by the Salem County Department of Health and Human Services will focus on health care workers, which includes EMS personnel, public health employees, dialysis centers, visiting nurses, and community health care workers.

To register for an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, New Jersey has launched an online vaccine scheduling system where the public can register for an appointment once their phase is open. The link to pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine is https://covidvaccine.nj.gov/. When pre-registering for an appointment you will receive an email once your phase is open, this will prompt you to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccination clinic in your area. You will not be able to sign up for an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine until your phase is open.

Salem County Department of Health and Human Services will not be keeping a list of individuals who are interested in receiving the vaccine. The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services will be using the New Jersey vaccine scheduling system to schedule appointments for individual what wish to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. If you are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, please visit the link above to pre-register. This scheduling system will allow individuals to register for COVID-19 vaccination clinics sites within the area including pharmacies and grocery stores offering the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, The Salem County Department of Health and Human Services is vaccinating only individuals in Phase 1. This type of distribution operates as a close point of distribution (POD) and is not open to individuals outside of Phase 1A. Additional sites will be added to the COVID-19 vaccine scheduling system once they become available. Individuals are encouraged to sign up for any COVID-19 vaccinations sites that are available, even if the site is outside of Salem County.
