The deadline for placing it in one of the secure drop boxes is 8pm Tuesday, January 24th, the box will be locked at the close of polls at 8pm.

REGISTRATION OF NEW OR TRANSFER OF VOTER

INFORMATION:

To be conducted one of the following ways; the office of Salem County Board of Election, 110 Fifth Street Suite 1000, Salem, NJ 08079,  Monday through Friday during regular business hours of 8:30am thru 4:30pm, during regular business hours at your local Municipal Clerk Office or you can update/ register on the New Jersey State website at www.voter.svrs.nj.gov/register. To become a voter in the Lower Alloways Creek Special School Election, a person must be a citizen of the United States of America, a resident of New Jersey and Salem County for 30 days, 18 years of age on or before Tuesday, January 24th ,2023. Not currently serving a sentence of incarceration as the result of a conviction of any indictable offense under the laws of this or another state or of the United States.

Any voter who, prior to the election, shall have moved within Salem County without  filing, on or before the 21st day preceding the election, a notice of change of residence with the Board of Elections of Salem County or the municipal clerk of the municipality in which the voter resides on the day of the election, returning the confirmation notice sent to the voter by the Board of Elections, if such a notice has been sent to the voter, or otherwise notifying the Board of registration of the voter’s change of address within Salem County shall be permitted to correct the voter’s registration and to vote in the Primary Election by provisional ballot at the polling place of the district in which the voter resides on the day of the Election. The notice shall further provide that the voter may contact Salem County Board of Elections registration or municipal clerk to determine the proper polling place location for the voter.

THE LAST DAY TO REGISTER FOR NEW OR TRANFERS OF VOTERS IS TUESDAY, JANUARY 3RD, 2023

One evening registration will take place Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023  at Salem County Board of Elections, located at 110 5th Street Suite 1000, Salem NJ 08079 during the hours 8:30am to 9pm, for the convenience of the voters.

ASSISTANCE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Pursuant to the provisions of the “Voting accessibility for the elderly and handicapped act of 1984” a telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD) is maintained at the Election Division, Department of Law and Public Safety, Trenton NJ. Persons wishing to utilize this service to obtain information may do so by dialing 1-800-292-0039.

A person needing availability of assistance to vote due to blindness, disability or inability to read or write, or inability to understand the language has a choice of two district board workers assisting or a person of their choosing to assist them in voting.

NEW JERSEY VOTERS’ BILL OF RIGHTS

A voter’s bill of rights will be open to view at the polling places. These rights for the voter will show information regarding:

  • The sample ballots will be available at the polling place on the day of election.
  • Voting machine
    • instruction for the use of the voting machine in that polling place and an explanation of what instructions for voting are available at the polling place for the voter.
  • First Time Voter
    • instruction for a voter who is voting for the first time.
  • ID Requirements – Certain “Need ID” Voters
  • Vote by Mail
  • Provisional Voting
    • an explanation of the right of the voter to a provisional ballot, including in the event that a mail-in ballot has been applied for and not received or not transmitted to the county board of elections before the day of any election, and the other circumstances under which a voter has a right to a provisional ballot.

    • an explanation of the right of the voter to vote in privacy, regardless of the voter’s physical abilities.
