The Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders will be hosting the “2015 Salem County Salutes our Armed Forces Enlistees.” The event will be held on June 3, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the Salem County Olde Courthouse, 104 Market Street, Salem. The purpose of the event is to honor county residents who are enlisting in all branches of the United States Military.

“Our county residents who have made the commitment to defend the United States of America are most deserving of our gratitude,” said Freeholder Deputy Director Ben Laury. “It is truly our honor to host this event and show these exceptional men and women that Salem County appreciates them.”

The keynote speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel George N. May. Enlisting in the United States Army Reserves in 1990, Lieutenant Colonel May’s career has taken him around the globe with assignments in Korea, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Musical selections will be performed by the Salem American Legion Band.

Freeholder Director Julie Acton said of the event, “As the school year comes to a close, we recognize this is the time that many young men and women will choose to enter the military. It is proper and fitting to thank these individuals and let them know that their community is proud of them.”

The county is seeking information on all recent enlistees and asks anyone who knows of an enlistee to provide information to Brenda Banks. She may be reached at (856) 935-7510, Extension 8203 or Enlistees, along with their family and friends and the general public are encouraged to attend the event.
