Born Walter Bruce Willis, on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, West
Germany. The Willis family moved from a West German military base to the
small town of Carneys Point, New Jersey, when Bruce was two years old.
He grew up (in Penns Grove, NJ) as the oldest of four children in a
blue-collar family (his father, David, was a welder). As a teenager, he
worked in a DuPont chemical plant. After graduating from high school,
Willis attended Montclair (NJ) State College, where he first became
interested in acting.

| Born Eugene "Dory" Reybold Elsh
on March 1, 1892 in Penns Grove, Roy Elsh played outfield with the
Chicago White Sox for 3 seasons beginning 4/19/1923. He died in
Philadelphia in November 12, 1978. |
