Discover the Possibilities in Salem County
Located in the heart of the northeast corridor, Salem County is a special place where historic towns, pristine preserved landscapes and productive farms coexist with modern industry and business parks, all served by an excellent highway system. With 338 square miles and a population of 66,000, we here in the County enjoy the lowest population density in New Jersey, yet are close to all the major Mid-Atlantic metropolitan centers – the best of both worlds.
Like the Salem Oak itself, the roots of history run deep here. Descendents of the original Native American, European and African residents still live in the County. We are proud of our rich heritage and welcome new residents who continue to diversify and enrich our community. We also are home to a distinctive arts scene and a growing creative economy.
All these natural and cultural assets have contributed to the County’s recent emergence as a tourism destination. Last year we experienced the largest increase in tourism expenditures in the entire state.
Whether you are a resident, visitor or potential investor, we invite you to discover the possibilities and explore the opportunities available for you here in Salem County.
