Welcome to the Salem County website.  On behalf of the Board of Chosen Freeholders, I encourage residents, visitors, and business’ to explore the many resources, programs, and services Salem County government offers.  You will find useful information; documents and forms to download; links to various government entities; and news announcements.  We are honored to have qualified and dedicated employees who provide friendly and exceptional service to those we serve.  Salem County is a wonderful place to live, work, and visit. I consider it an honor to serve the residents of this great county as your Freeholder Director.  This website serves as another avenue toward this Administration’s priorities: making Salem County government open, accessible, and responsible.

Do you know about Project PJ's?
What: Project PJ's is begin coordinated by seven 8th grade Pennsville Middle School girls to raise awareness and support the foster children in Salem County. All donations will be delivered to the Salem County Department of Child Protection and Permanency (formally DYFS).

Donation Requests: warm, new pajamas, underwear, and socks for children ages infant through teen. Donations will be collected through February 15th, 2015.

Donation Drop Box Locations: Pennsville Public Library, 5th Street Municipal Building or pick up options may be available. A drive will be held at the Pennsville Library on February 14th from 10 am- Noon. Please contact sharonbatt@yahoo.com or tcccnkwelch@gmail.com for further information.

Goal: Over the past three years the PJ Project has collected and donated over 700 pairs of pajamas! Our goal this year is to collect 300 pairs of pajamas!

Joseph Hannagan, Veterans Affairs Officer and Freeholder Director Julie Acton had the pleasure of presenting a Board of Chosen Freeholder Citation to Mabel Belinfanti for her military service! Mabel is 101 Years Young! She served in the US Army, World War II, and was awarded a World War II Victory Medal and WAAC Service Medal.

On Wednesday, January 21st, Sheriff’s Officer Kenneth J. O’Brien Jr. was presented with a Proclamation from the Salem County Board of Chosen Freeholders recognizing his 26 years of service with the Sheriff’s Office. Officer O’Brien was also presented with a plaque from Salem County Prosecutor John Lenahan recognizing his years of service and assistance to the Prosecutors Narcotic Task Force. Sheriff Chuck Miller and Undersheriff Warren Mabey also presented Officer O’Brien with a certificate recognizing his years of service. All of us in the Sheriff’s Office wish Ken well in his retirement.

This evening the County Freeholder Board presented a citation to Kathleen Poliski, South Jersey Producer from LAC, for the documentary film "Where would we be without farmers?" The film was a documentary film about The Robinson Family Farm. The focus was on the impact on local farmers.
