Did You Know..... The County Freeholder Board has a Education/ Employment Committee?

Freeholder Doug Painter serves as the Freeholder Chair/ Liaison to the Education/ Employment Committee. The committee meets once a month to discuss what each entity is doing and to collaborate in areas to further the missions of education and employment. We will begin to share their projects as they have been working hard and developing initiatives to implement. They have already visited a few businesses and toured the facilities, discussed employment opportunities and education needs.

Freeholder Painter, Dr. Michael Gorman (SCC President), John Swain (Superintendent of SCVTS and Special School District), Peggy Nicolosi (County Superintendent of Schools), Jennifer Jones (Director of Chamber of Commerce), Kathy Lockbaum (Director of Board of Social Services), Dave Zeck (Director of One Stop Career Center), Carleen Dipaola-Greco (Department of Labor), and Christy DiLeonardo (Director of the Workforce Development Board).

Today, April 25, 2016 is World Malaria Day. The Freeholder Board signed a Proclamation designating April 25, 2016 World Malaria Day. The Mosquito Control was on hand accepted the proclamation and Biologist Autumn Angelus spoke a few minutes to the auidence.

Do you know what World Malaria Day is? It is an international observance commemorated every year on April 25 and recognizes global efforts to control malaria. The 2016 theme is "End Malaria for Good."

The Election Board has upgraded their voting machines!

The Board of Elections recently completed an upgrade of the voting machines to the EDGE II Electronic Voting System. This will enable the Election Board to run the newest version of WinEDS 4.0 ballot counting software. The Board, through an agreement with the Software Vender, was able to do an even exchange of the existing voting machines to the newer model at no cost to the county. As an additional benefit, this upgrade will postpone, by a few additional years, the need for capital expenditure to purchase new voting equipment.
